A crossover between tradition and contemporary, Columbus Cultural Orchestra (CCO) starts off their season with a tribute to 1990’s hip hop. Stephen Spottswood, founder and classically trained violinist, noticed that the orchestras he played with weren’t playing his favorite hip-hop and R&B songs. Established in 2020, the orchestra teaches developing musicians arrangements of jazz, hip-hop, and classical. Bringing R&B classics to the orchestral world, you can expect to hear throwbacks from SWV, Brandy, Usher, Destiny’s Child, Aaliyah and more! Look forward to creative instrumentation including strings, drums, and keyboard–to form a head bopping, beat dropping innovative performance!

Columbus Cultural Orchestra (CCO) is an exciting new orchestra program offered to instrumentalists ages 13-25 who play at least at the intermediate level. Established in 2020, the orchestra teaches developing musicians arrangements of jazz, hip-hop, and classical favorites from “Mozart” to “Miles Davis”; “Earth, Wind, and Fire” to “Drake”. We are looking for woodwind, brass, and string musicians to audition.
